rubbed on the blazer until my arms fell off last night. easily the most extreme transformation i've ever witnessed. will get pics when i'm done, but it's doing well so far.
anyone here ever spend that much time and energy on something as useless as paint?

I feel you - it usually takes me 4 hours to properly wash and wax my car.

One time I had to carry a bunch of paint cans.

Every time I do a detail job. The clay bar is such an amazing thing, especially on a nice black paint where it really makes it shine. It's also really satisfying feeling how insanely smooth the paint is afterwards.

Does it fill in small scratches and imperfections? My son decorated my wife's car by drawing on it with a rock. I spent a few hours buffing it but it still shows up.

Scratches? No. imperfections? probably...clay has taken things off of my cars that i didn't think would come off. It basically removes surface contamination from paint, even stuff you can't see... If you look at paint under a microscope its not flat, its a lot of peaks and valleys, the clay takes the crap all out of it... then once its clay'ed you can polish and prep for surface protection product of your choosing.... but man, clay on a black car is really fun (takes forever to do it right)

Clay bars don't fill or fix. They act like a sponge, soaking up all the stuff stuck to your paint. leaving it super smooth.

Couldn't agree more. The first time I used one I was stunned at how smooth the paint was after claying but BEFORE waxing.

bugeyedfatwalrus said it right. It won't fill in scratches, but it does wonders getting off little iimperfections in the paint. I think polishing might fix some small scratches though, but I'm too knowledgeable at polishing. I stick with clay bar and wax.

This is by far the best scratch filler I've found. Scratches that are only 1 or 2 layers deep it can get rid of them, but for the ones they can't I've seen it at least blend the scratch in, and clean it up real good so you can get some touch up paint on it.

I have a black car and it works wonders on it. It also gets rid of those really set in water spots.

A porter cable and some finishing polish (before wax) will do miracles.

I really need to clay bar again, it's been a while.
I spend a ton of time and energy washing my car. I wash it once a week or so now.
I really want to pick up a DA and try my hand at corrections.

I do every now and again, I use a paste wax normally so when im going all out its a 4 step process. Wash, clay bar, wax, and step back and look at how shiney it turned out

If you came over and we did my car together it would only take 2 hours! Sounds like a deal huh?

the sprinkling cools the claybar enough that it's quit sticking to my hands.
